KAREN SHERMAN

Karen Sherman’s work has been presented by P.S. 122, Danspace Project, Walker Art Center, Fusebox Festival, TBA Festival, Studio 303, ODC, and many others. She has received numerous awards for her work as a choreographer, performer, and designer, including a 2007 “Bessie” Award for her performance in Morgan Thorson’s Faker, McKnight Fellowships in Choreography and Dance, a Bush Foundation Fellowship, residencies from the MacDowell Colony, Movement Research, Vermont Performance Lab and the Bogliasco Foundation in Liguria, Italy. She has worked with a range of artists, including Sally Silvers, Morgan Thorson, NTUSA, Circus Amok, Emily Johnson, Lisa D’Amour, Katie Pearl, Heidi Dorow/The Love Everybody Players, Dan Hurlin, the feminist pop-punk band, Le Tigre, and many more. Her background in nearly every facet of arts production as a technical director, designer, and technician informs each aspect of her work. Her writing, including essays and poetry, has been featured on many live, web and print forums, including The Movement Research Performance Journal, Culture Bodega, The Performance Club, and The Triumph of Poverty: Poems Inspired by the Work of Nicole Eisenman.

Joanna Furnans is an independent dancer/performer and choreographer in Chicago. She has spent the last decade dancing and touring with Minneapolis artists Karen Sherman, Chris Schlichting, Morgan Thorson, and Laurie Van Wieren. Joanna is a graduate of Sarah Lawrence College and was recently named “tall, soft and curvy, with a buzz cut” in the Washington Post.

Don Mabley-Allen has recently danced for choreographers Anna Marie Shogren, Megan Mayer, and The Garner Group. As an actor, he has worked with Bedlam Theatre, Flaneur Productions, and The Burning House Group. Don is co-Artistic Director of Flaneur Productions, which annually presents Heliotrope, a three-day festival of underground and experimental music in the Twin Cities.

Carrie Wood is a NYC-based lighting designer. She has designed for a diverse group of artists including Melanie Maar, Daria Fain, luciana achugar, Reggie Wilson, Walter Dundervill, Sarah Michelson, Michael Lluberes, and many more. In 2009 she joined Merce Cunningham Dance Company as the assistant production manager for their final Legacy Tour. She then production-managed Merce Cunningham’s final performance at the Park Avenue Armory. Carrie’s design work has been seen on both international and national stages including BAM Howard Gilman Opera House, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, Walker Art Center, Kasino am Schwarzenbergplatz, and New York Live Arts. She is a graduate of the North Carolina School of the Arts.

Aaron Schoenrock has worked as a freelance Stage Manager for numerous theater and dance companies in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area including The Guthrie Theater, Mixed Blood and the Southern Theater.

Janet D. Clancy has eaten fire, swum across the East River, straddled the drunken body of David Lee Roth, and escaped the deadly jaws of the Black Mamba (the fastest, most venomous snake on Earth) by fleeing on horseback. Her career path continues to spiral upward, to this show.
