JULES BUCK JONES

Jules Buck Jones is a practicing artist living and working in Austin, Texas. Jones earned his BFA from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond in 2005 and later moved to Texas where he received his MFA from UT Austin in 2008.  Jules has developed a remarkable body of work dealing primarily with animal imagery, biology, ecology, mythology, and transformation. Jules is a member of the collaborative installation group Boozefox and is president of the Austin non-profit project space, MASS Gallery.

Several years ago, Jules started Animal Facts Club (AFC), a group of Austin, Texas-based artists, scientists, musicians, and writers who have a passion for sharing knowledge about animals in fun and creative ways. AFC members have collaborated to create art calendars three years in a row and donate proceeds to local wildlife rescues. In 2014, Jules teamed up with Audrey Stewart, fellow AFC member and Education Coordinator at the local non-profit, TreeFolks, to create the art and science theatrical performance, The Biodiversity of Texas. This performance was developed and performed by AFC members with the help of the City of Austin Cultural Arts Division Core Cultural Funding Program for the first time at The Contemporary Austin at Laguna Gloria on Museum Day 2015.
