Fusebox 09 thrust Austin into the international arts conversation. We hosted writers, artists, and audiences from all over the world. The festival included five world premieres and two U.S. premieres. Six different events were nominated for the Austin Critics Table awards and we were awarded Best Touring Dance Show, Best Touring Theater Show, and Best Independent/Public Art Project.
Across 50 performances and 12 venues, the Festival opened up the world’s most fascinating and challenging art to Austin. We also increased our free programming dramatically this year so that more and more people could participate and engage in this vital conversation.
