DESCRIPTION

There’s a Bear named Butcher who has been hard at work trying to bring the brilliant weirdos and other creatives out of the woodwork here in Austin where he calls home, and outside its borders, where the other animals live.

Butcher Bear has been the one-man operation behind Austin’s micro-label, (iN)Sect Records, putting out records for the likes of all kinds of music since election year 2008.. (Check the resume at www.insectrecords.org) and you can go to www.soundcloud.com/insectrecords to preview some music from the label.

With this very special night put together exclusively for the FUSEBOX Festival, Butcher Bear brings out all of the big guns from the (iN)Sect Camp.

MORE INFO ABOUT THE ARTISTS:

RECSPEC –
The Design company behind everything visual for (iN)Sect Records, RECSPEC a.k.a. Laurel Barickman and Dave Milner, will be showing films and performing with all of the artists during the evening.  Get ready for your mind to bend a little bit. More info about them at www.recspec.org

EXPLODED DRAWING –
Opening up the evening, we will be inviting a stage full of folks associated with a semi-monthly event that’s been going on here in Austin for the last Six Months or so called Exploded Drawing.  E.D. was created by Butcher Bear and partner in crime, soundfounder a.k.a. Andrew P. Brown, also of Austin, to help showcase electronic music producers in and around Texas. The night goes down something like this, We get a huge sound system, Butcher Bear plays records for an hour, soundfounder runs the mic, Ntropy runs visuals, and then six electronic musicians play twenty minute sets of their original music back-to-back.   For this event, we will have 8 artists who have all played Exploded Drawing  come and play 5 minutes each, to give you a taste of what this night is all about. ORIGINALITY.  More info about E.D. is available at www.exploded-drawing.com

AADM OUR HATLEY

Adam Hatley a.k.a. AADM OUR HATLEY, formerly of Those Peabodys as a guitarist, has been playing drums for over 15 years.  On a dare from Butcher Bear, Adam was asked to make a ‘breaks and beats’ record for the label. The only rule he was given was he could not use electricity. No guitars, no samplers, no keys. JUST DRUMS, claps, snaps and voice.  The result, which is slated for June 2011 release as ltd. 12” and digital on the (iN), is nothing short of a creative masterpiece.  The idea behind the record, is that there is so much ‘beat driven’ music and sampling and the like, that we need also to be making “new” sounds to use. AADM OUR HATLEY goes way past original on the final product. This show marks the very first time, he’ll be performing live in support of this project.

ATARIMATT

Atarimatt a.k.a. Matt Shea, hails from the unlikely town of College Station. He writes and plays all of his music through an Atari 2600 Game System and two televisions. He really needs to be seen to be believed. Playing a wonderful mix of 8-bit pop and music to skate to, Atarimatt has a full-length 12” release scheduled for May 2011 on the (iN) videos of him making crazy things up at http://www.youtube.com/user/atarimatt

$HIT & $HINE--

Headliners, $HIT & $HINE, hailing from London, and recently transplanted back to Austin, are the brainchild of Craig Clouse (Crown Roast, TODD). You never know what you will get when they play. As many as ten drummers, couple of bass players, and  during SXSW this year, there were even a couple of samplers and a gameboy. Their sound is like a deep meditaion through gigantic walls of sound. Their show is ONE SONG=ONE SHOW.  And by the 15 minute mark, they will just be getting started.  Having played Copenhagen’s Museum of Art, as well as every damn festival in Europe and Japan, these seasoned veterans will leave no one un scathed. $&$ plan on releasing a 12” on the (iN) FALL 2011 http://www.myspace.com/shitandshine
