Pierre Rigal & Aurélien Bory
Pierre Rigal
Pierre Rigal received degrees in mathematics and economics from the University of Barcelona and a degree in Cinema from The Audio Visual School in Toulouse, France. A former international athlete, Rigal entered the dance world after meeting some of Europe’s leading choreographers, including Wim Vandekeybus, and directors such as Mladen Materic, who were combining dance and theater with sophisticated technology. In 2002, while working as a video clip and documentary director, Rigal joined the company of Swiss choreographer Gilles Jobin. In 2004, Rigal founded his own company, “compagnie dernière minute,” in order to further explore the intersection between dance and technology. Directed by Aurélien Bory, Rigal’s first solo piece, érection, melds body movements with images and sound to create a new visual environment.
