Tequila is the best-known mezcal (all tequila is mezcal, not all mezcal is tequila), but agave spirits are made all over Mexico, and the spirits of Oaxaca are renowned world-wide. Led by Houston Eaves, the mezcal tender of Esquire Tavern in San Antonio, we’ve put together an amazing spread of mezcals made from many varieties of agave in multiple villages, each with their own magic.

Our pop-up mezcaleria offers a chance to taste spirits from the finest producers, including mezcals from Mezcal Vago, Del Maguey, Pierde Almas, Wahaka, and Fidencio, while dancing to cumbia-driven beats by Adrian Quesada (Grupo Fantasma) and devouring banana-leaf-wrapped tamales from Oaxacan Tamaleo.

At the mezcaleria, enter the Luchadores del Brazos, testing your strength against other luchadores, to support the Tequila Interchange Project, an organization we depend on to preserve the future of mezcal and the culture around it.

The Tequila Interchange Project (, is an organization of advocates for the preservation of sustainable, traditional and quality practices in the industries of agave distilled spirits.
